Life on the Edge after dark! Mediterranean Oil Beetle surveys
Come and join us out on the coast this autumn to hunt for the elusive Mediterranean Oil Beetle. These rarer, mostly nocturnal cousins of the Black Oil beetle, were thought to be extinct in the UK until their rediscovery in South Devon in 2012, after not being seen for 100 years!
The first session will be an introduction training session, then we will head out each week until Mid December
Intro session – Prawle Point, East Prawle
All you need to know about hunting for these elusive nocturnal creatures! Join the LotE team and local entomologist, John Walters to search for the beetles and learn how to use iRecord to log your finds and add to the national database.
If you can’t make this session – don’t worry, we will recap at each session, help you get started and bring along the ID guides.
If you need transport, pick ups are offered in the LotE vans from Follaton Arboretum (near sign) at Follaton House Totnes at 5:30pm.
