Dreaming of summer

Dreaming of summer

As I flick through photos for presentations I’m transported back to hot summer days on the coast.

I can almost smell the sea air, hear the lapping of the waves, and the occasional buzz of a busy bee. Ive always been fond of Spring, in particular May – its when summer birds return to our shores and insects are back on the wing – blossom colours the hedgerows, vivid green leaves of beech trees and the serenade of a Willow warbler. However I have now added early summer to the list of my favourite times of the year when our charismatic Long-horned bee is on the wing!

Not one to wish the year away but this year I cannot wait to see these insects again

So as I highlight weeks in my calendar ‘Long-horned bee flying times!’ I too encourage you to get out in early June to see these fantastic creatures on in the East Prawle areawont be long now…!
