Call for nominations

Nominations are open for Community Representatives to serve on the South Devon National Landscape (SDNL) Partnership .  There are seven spaces to fill including Tourism, Business, Parish/Town Council,  Farming/Landowning, Coast & Marine, Environmental organisation, and Community and Voluntary groups. The term of office is three years.

 

The Partnership  meets three times a year. Its role is to provide a strategic lead in the protection and care of the South Devon National Landscape , oversee the preparation of the Management Plan, promote awareness of the special qualities and national status of the protected area,  provide guidance to the staff unit on its work and  advise on projects and activities that benefit the National Landscape. Others on the Partnership include the four local authorities, the National Trust, Natural England, The Environment Agency, Historic England, Forestry Commission, CPRE Devon and the University of Plymouth.   Meetings are held either at Follaton House Totnes or a local Village Hall or other venue.

 

SDNL Team Manager Roger English commented  “We are looking for individuals who are committed to the AONB designation and can bring experience and expertise of their own and their organisations to the committee.  Their role is to  be ambassadors for the National Landscape and a good knowledge of the local area and understanding of the local area is a clear advantage.  They have got the potential to make a real difference.”

 

Interested candidates are welcome to give the South Devon National Landscape  team a call to chat about the role on 01803 229330.  Nominations are open until 12 noon on Thursday 31st October . Nomination forms can be completed online and emailed directly to the office at  Nomination form   

 

If there is more than one nomination for any category, organisations will be asked to vote online for their choice of representative from Wednesday 6th November until Friday 15th November.
